Current North Dakota insurance issues as of February 2010
North Dakota insurance issues of affordability and availability could not believably be influenced by unhealthy living.
There's just something about North Dakota. They seem to undertand some things that the rest of country does not. During the economic downturn, there were quite a few new stories about how well North Dakota was still doing because of how fiscally conservative they are. This may be evidence of why they are ranked number one in the whole country in mental health. They're also the tops nationally in terms of infectious diseases but I have to wonder if that's because there's not much population there to spread disease. They are also very near the top in air quality, violent crime and high school graduation rates. Even though this state has so much to brag about, things are not necessarily improving. Premiums have risen 94 percent over the last ten years. Total family health coverage premiums (employer and employee combined) rose from $6124 to $11,882. What's interesting about this state is that it faces economic troubles even after establishing a reputation for fiscal conservatism.
