Current New Hampshire insurance issues as of February 2010
New Hampshire insurance availability and affordability issues seem to be not quite as prominent as in many less health states.
Maybe New Hampshire should change its state mottom from "Live Free or Die" to "Live extremely well and don't die". This is a highly impressive state when it comes to statistics related to health. It's ranks best of all of the country in taking care of its children, with the lowest poverty rate of children in this country. It ranks best in all of the country in getting its children immunized. It ranks 2nd best in all of the country in premature death rate and 3rd best in violent crime. Even so, continued prosperity is not guaranteed. It's been projected that about 160,000 New Hampshire residents will lose health coverage by 2019, if national health care reform is not passed. Health care premiums per family is expected to rise by $9819 a year by this same time period. Additionally, more people would die from lack of coverage, enough so that the motto of the state would not have to be changed.
