Current Montana insurance issues as of February 2010

Montana insurance availability and affordability issues do not sum up easily as they are influence by an array of contradicting factors.

This is one of those weird states that does extremely well in some health care categories but suprisingly poorly in others. It does seem that there is something positive at work here that's generating favorable results but perhaps a few issues are overlooked. This state ranks #3 in the country in rates of infectious death, 37 in cardiovascular deaths, #8 in air pollution, #9 in rates of obesity. However it is also ranked #45 in occupational fatalities, #47 in geographic disparity and it's the absolute lowest in the country in immunization coverage. It's an amazing contradiction that a state that does so well in rates of infectious disease also does so poorly in rates of immunization coverage. Whether the sentiment is there or not, this state has many reasons to root for federal health care reform. It is believed that nearly 100,000 of its residents will gain health coverage by 2019 if health care reform is passed. Wonder if any of those people are currently attending Tea Parties?
