Current Illinois insurance issues as of February 2010
Illinois insurance availability and affordability issues as well as many other pressing issues in this state were dramatically impact by recent national economic trouble.
2009 hit Illinois hard. There are more than 1.7 million Illinois residents without health coverage. Around 200,000 people lost jobs in the first three months of 2009 which contributes to the problem. One startling statistic is that health insurance premiums in this rate grew five times faster than earnings from 2000 to 2009. Challenges that this state faces in health care are typical of what the rest of the nation faces. Some may want to use Illinois' situation to put the President on the spot, but you have also have to remember that Rod Blagojevich is a recent governor of this state.
