Current Connecticut insurance issues as of February 2010

Connecticut insurance affordability and availability are currently being shaped by a senator who's agenda is unclear.

Connecticut's reputation has it as a wealthy state full of wealthy citizens. Teachers in connecticut are some of the highest paid in the country. Health insurance premiums tend to be high also, with costs per month regularly ranging somewhere over $1500 a month. Premiums as high as $10000 a month have been reported. Given that, you have to wonder if citizens of Connecticut are all that wealthy or are they ready to string up Senator Joe Lieberman for his recent health-care reform damaging filibuster threat. If Lieberman is taking care of his constituents it would have to be his corporate (read: health insurance company) constituents as opposed to those working for a paycheck. Otherwise, the major complaints for health insurance are typical of most states: too much inefficient bureacracy, burdensome rules and the aforementioned costly premiums.
